James Gibson
Founder - Chief Executive Officer 
Mr. Gibson graduated from California State University Chico with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he worked as a sales engineer for Decision Vision in San Diego, CA, where he developed in depth knowledge of engineering software. He decided to work in Asia so he rode his mountain bike 10,000 kilometers to Singapore where he started working for SyQuest. At SyQuest he developed four product lines, set up a 50,000 sqft manufacturing facility in Malaysia, and managed all product transfers. At Castlewood he set up another manufacturing facility in Malaysia and then a manufacturing facility in Thailand. After returning to the U.S., he designed a world class manufacturing facility for Cymer Inc and then managed the set up of this Korean factory. Now he has taken on the challenge of building a bio-energy company.
Elmar Schmid, Ph.D.
Founder - Chief Science Officer
Dr. Schmid brings more than 10 years of academic research experience in the U.S. and in Europe to the company. He managed R&D teams in enzymology, molecular and cell biology and published in peer-reviewed journals. A citizen of Germany he received an early education in technical engineering and worked as a draftsman for diverse machinery companies in Germany. After receiving a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry at the University of Konstanz, Germany, he completed postdoctoral studies at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA and worked as a senior scientist at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany on enzyme regulation. In 2003, Dr. Schmid worked with Mr. Gibson to form a highly experienced and dedicated team around the vision to make bio-hydrogen energy from renewable biomass a reality.
Jim Siegrist
Vice President Sales & Marketing
Jim has over 20 years sales and marketing experience from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree from the City University of New York and went on to get a Masters degree in Mathematics from NYU. After graduation, Jim worked at MIT on a classified government project. He later directed the marketing for several Fortune 500 companies, such as AT&T/ Bell Labs, Fujitsu/Amdahl, and Varian Medical/Biosynergy. He also helped a few start-up companies get up and running (Asante Technologies, eCite, Construction Navigator). Since 2004, Jim has been working with the SGT team to develop a world-class company.
Margarita Vega
Director R&D
Mrs. Vega brings more than 10 years of biological research experience in the Bio-Technology industry to the company. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Baja California in Mexico, Mrs. Vega worked as a Biologist in research and development at Mycogen Corporation (San Diego, CA) where she optimized fermentation processes for different proprietary recombinant bacteria. She later worked as a senior research Biologist for Dow Agrosciences (San Diego, CA) with laboratory responsibilities including bacterial and plant transformation and analysis of transgenic plants. In 2004, Mrs. Vega joined the SGT team with the firm conviction that our society needs alternative sources of energy without compromising the energy supply of future generations.
